Summary: Collection consists of papers collected and created by Joseph Bursey, as Director of the New Mexico Tourist Bureau, 1940-1972. Included are papers concerning the Statehood Commemoration Commission (1971-1972), Tourist Bureau materials (1893-1970), and various publications (1940-1956). Statehood Commemoration Commission papers pertain to the commemoration day publicity. Tourist Bureau materials include: an official program for the Coronado Cuatro Centennial issued by the New Mexico Coronado Cuatro Centennial Commission, 1940; a typescript copy of a Bursey address, 1940 and a memo regarding a new state slogan, 1970; and the Tourist Bureau's annual report for 1936. Publications include tourist publications pertaining to various New Mexico cultural and geographical attractions and the New Mexico Highway Department's traffic report, 1955.
